Walmart on Tuesday announced the return of Walmart Deals, a weeklong savings event designed to help customers save big on the items they want most this summer. Running June 22 through June 28, Walmart Deals will feature thousands of offers across top brands, popular categories, and early back-to-school essentials.
Walmart Deals begins online at 12:01 a.m. ET on June 22 and in stores at 6 a.m. local time. The event concludes at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 28 and at regular closing time in stores. W+ early access to hot Deal drops begins at 12:01 a.m. ET on June 22. Any remaining hot Deal drop items will open to all customers at 12:01 a.m. ET on June 23.
Total Retail's Take: Walmart has moved its sales event forward from July to June, mimicking Amazon and Target while overlapping dates with both competitors' sales events. Amazon Prime Day and Target Circle Deal Days events are both set to be held June 23-26. However, Walmart's sales event begins one day earlier and lasts an entire week compared to the shorter deal windows from both competitors.
According to a company press release, Walmart customers can expect savings on thousands of items including electronics, fashion, toys, collectibles, furniture, skincare and more. Walmart Deals event sales are available on Walmart.com, through the Walmart app and in Walmart stores nationwide.
The retail giant has also launched a marketing strategy centered on music to promote the event. Walmart created a fictional boy band called Alwayz and an original pop song. "While the creative execution is fun, the strategy is serious: use the power of music to strengthen Walmart's association with value," the announcement reads.
Consumers are being served triple the sales as the three retail giants battle for customers' attention and wallets.
