Tractor Supply Company, the nation’s largest rural lifestyle chain, is opening 90 new locations by the end of 2025. That pushes its footprint to about 3,200 stores across 49 states. At least 18 of the new locations were formerly Big Lots stores, scooped up during a rescue acquisition following the chain’s bankruptcy. These openings come as Tractor Supply Co. doubles down on its "Life Out Here" strategy. The retailer launched the growth plan in 2020, redefining its store layouts, ramping up distribution, and expanding its loyalty program to more than 22 million members.
Total Retail's Take: A bright spot in the industry, Tractor Supply Co. has successfully expanded its business by investing in store expansion, product diversification, digital capabilities, loyalty program upgrades, and strategic acquisitions. The rural lifestyle retailer has expanded and optimized its physical stores, including opening new locations in rural markets; deepening product coverage in garden and pet segments; elevating digital and omnichannel innovations, including relaunching its website and app; leveraging its growing loyalty program; and executing strategic acquisitions, such as its 2022 purchase of Orscheln Farm & Home. Based in part on those investments, Tractor Supply Co. CEO Hal Lawton says the brand is on track to hit $225 billion in revenue by year's end, up from an initial projection of $180 billion.
