Los Angeles-based Forever 21 Inc. has unveiled an additional 6,300-sq.-ft. of space at its Oxford Street store in London, according to www.wwd.com. The store now features 39,000 sq. ft. of space, allowing the retailer to display more products, including its accessories, lingerie and cosmetics lines. The retailer also has added a store in Manchester, northern England, to its U.K. portfolio. The 20,000-sq.-ft. store is located in the Trafford Centre mall, and is expected to become the retailer’s second largest in the United Kingdom in terms of volume. After a seven-year run as head of The Vermont Country Store, Bill Shouldice will step down at the end of the year as president and CEO and turn the reins over to the Orton family. Los Angeles-based American Apparel Inc. announced the opening of a new in-store shop within Selfridges department store in London. Situated at Manchester's Exchange Square, the new 156-sq.-ft. location is American Apparel's second in-store boutique in Manchester, and the company’s fifth in-store collaboration with Selfridges. The new Manchester shop will be the first location opened by American Apparel in 2012. Currently, American Apparel operates approximately 249 stores in 20 countries. Los Angeles-based American Apparel Inc. opened two more in-store shops inside two locations of London-based department store Selfridges, as the clothing retailer continues its efforts to expand into new markets and open new distribution channels, according to www.wsj.com. The new locations in Manchester and Birmingham follow the 2010 opening of the American Apparel concession at the Selfridges department store in London. "We're continuing to build American Apparel as an international brand and expanding our partnership with Selfridges is the perfect way to do it," said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel.
