Neighborhood Intelligence Inc., the new corporate identity for Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., is walking away from an acquisition it had announced in early April, reports Home Textiles Today. The now-defunct deal to purchase the assets of F9 Brands Inc. was originally intended to to build out BB&B Inc.’s home services platform, Beyond Home Services. F9 owns and operates Cabinets To Go, Lumber Liquidators, Gracious Home / Thos. Baker, and Southwind Building Products.
Neighborhood Intelligence said F9 was unable to satisfy all of the agreed-upon closing requirements within the required timeframe. In addition to canceling the acquisition, Neighborhood Intelligence said it will not enter into a commercial or strategic collaboration with F9.
As of Aug. 31, Neighborhood Intelligence has completed several acquisitions this year, including The Container Store, Kirkland’s, Installed Right, and SFV Construction Services. The company is positioned as a data and technology company organized around three interconnected sectors: omnichannel retail, home services, and home ownership.
Total Retail's Take: Neighborhood Intelligence's decision to acquire F9 Brands was intended to "represent an additional step in further building a national, fully integrated home services platform under Beyond Home Services," according to a company press release about the roughly $150 million transaction from April 2026. F9 Brands' President and CEO Jason Delves was also set to serve as CEO of Beyond Home Services and join the executive leadership team of BBBY.
“We evaluate opportunities continuously, and this is one of many transactions we have considered that we elected not to pursue,” said Marcus Lemonis, executive chairman of Neighborhood Intelligence, about the cancelled deal. “We remain focused on the strength of the Home Services platform, anchored by Elfa, Closet Works, and SFV Construction Services, and on pursuing opportunities that meet our strategic, financial, and operational standards.”
