eBay issued a press release on Thursday announcing its new jobs site. The timing couldn't be more awkward, coming one day after eBay announced it would be looking to fill the top slot at PayPal after Scott Thompson made the surprise announcement he was stepping down to head Yahoo. PayPal has opened its new customer service and operations center in Chandler, Ariz. The new facility will employ "up to" 2,000 new employees. eBay cut 10 percent of its global workforce in 2008, and had further layoffs in 2009.
