Last week, Toys"R"Us announced its intent to upgrade its price-matching policy on items available in its Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores to include select online retailer pricing. RetailWire reports on the announcement and wonders, despite price matching major competitors such as diapers.com, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com, if the move will be enough to help reverse Toys"R"Us' sliding sales.

Toys"R"Us has named Richard Barry as senior vice president, chief merchandising officer, for its U.S operations. In his new role, Barry is responsible for all aspects of merchandising initiatives for the company's U.S. operations.

After trimming the windows of its Fifth Avenue store with lighted versions of its iconic toy soldier, FAO Schwarz unveiled its Christmas toy display and shipped its 2011 Ultimate Holiday Collection catalog. This year's collection includes product presentations from Mattel, Disney, Sanrio, Paul Frank and more iconic brands, fashion, baby products and specialty toys. The 40-page book features FAO Schwarz collectibles, over-the-top toys, playthings, Lionel Trains, life-sized plush animals and baby items. Customers can view the entire catalog online on Friday.
