JCPenney Offers QR Holiday Gift Tags

As part of its holiday campaign, JCPenney is giving shoppers a personalized QR code gift tag to attach to gifts purchased in stores in place of traditional hand-written tags. Starting on Black Friday, JCPenney will gift each shopper one free Santa Tag with their purchase. Customers can record voice messages up to one minute long on the "Santa Tags." New York City -- A Thursday report by the Wall Street Journal said that new J.C. Penney CEO Ron Johnson, who recently left Apple to run the department store chain, is recruiting other former Apple players to join the J.C. Penney team. According to the report, J.C. WASHINGTON โ€“ A host of retail groups, retailers and retail property firms have called on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, known as the "Super Committee," to give states more leverage to collect sales taxes from Internet retailers and catalog merchants. About 70 national and state retail organizations and more than 60 retailers and retail property companies have signed a letter to the Super Committee that urges lawmakers to eliminate a loophole that prohibits states from requiring remote sellers to collect sales and use taxes owed on purchases from out-of-state vendors.
