An off-and-on customer of OfficeMax, Mike Seay has gotten the office supply company's direct mail for years. But the mail that the grieving Lindenhurst, Ill., father said he got from OfficeMax last week was different. It was addressed to "Mike Seay, Daughter Killed in Car Crash." Strange as that sounds, the mail reached the right guy. Seay's daughter Ashley, 17, was killed in a car crash with her boyfriend last year. OfficeMax somehow knew. 

Ashley Furniture Industries plans to open about 50 bedding stores under the Zzz's By Ashley banner, according to Furniture Today. The sleep shops will average about 4,500 square feet each, and will offer a wide selection of mattresses and sleep accessories. “I think we can open several thousand in the next 10 years,” Ben Thorud, the Ashley executive who is heading the new initiative, told Furniture Today

Abercrombie & Fitch has bowed to controversy over a swimsuit deemed inappropriate for young girls by raising the target audience for the garments to 12 and older. Previously, abercrombie kids had been offering a spring line of bikinis with a padded bra that was being marketed to girls as young as 7.
