Tractor Supply Company, the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States, announced the launch of Tractor Supply Rx, the company’s pet and animal pharmacy offering. Customers can now shop for pet and animal medications, enroll in automatic delivery through the Autoship program, and access expert pharmacy advice via the online pharmacy.
From pet wash stations, pet grooming at Petsense by Tractor Supply and veterinary care through our PetVet partnership, to our pet-friendly policy at our stores, Tractor Supply Rx further solidifies Tractor Supply as the destination for expert care for pets and animals.
Total Retail's Take: Tractor Supply continues to invest in the pet category, particularly online. And potentially for good reason. There's substantial data indicating robust growth in the online pet services sector, encompassing e-commerce, digital care platforms, and app-based services. In 2024, U.S. retail sales of pet medications — including those sold through veterinarians, brick-and-mortar stores, and online retailers — reached $12.6 billion. While overall growth has moderated to 2.1 percent in 2024, online sales continue to expand, capturing a larger share of the market. Furthermore, approximately 30 percent of pet medications will be purchased online this year, marking a significant shift in consumer behavior.
"We are now able to provide our pet customers with seamless, trusted access to the best value in medications and the expert guidance needed to help their pets and animals thrive — along with their favorite food, treats, toys and more," said Rob Mills, executive vice president, chief technology, digital and corporate strategy officer at Tractor Supply, in a company press release. "This is an exciting addition for our pet parents and with points and rewards available on Tractor Supply Rx purchases, it’s just one more reason why it pays to be a Neighbor at Tractor Supply.”
