Zale President and CEO Theo Killion and most of his top team are leaving the company in a dramatic Signet corporate reshuffle that includes bump-ups for longtime execs Mark Light, Ed Hrabak and George Murray, and the resignation of Signet's chief financial officer. George Murray, the former Sterling marketing vice president who has held the title of chief integration management officer since May, will replace Killion as president of the Zale division, which includes the assets of the former Zale Corp.: Zales, Gordon's, Piercing Pagoda and Zale Canada. Zale will continue as a separate division.

Dallas -- Zale Corp reported a narrower third-quarter loss on Wednesday. Zale’s net loss narrowed by about a half to $4.5 million in the third quarter ended April 30, from $9 million a year ago. Revenues for the quarter ended April 30, 2012 rose 8.1% to $445 million, compared with $412 million in the same period last year. Dallas -- Zale Corp. said Tuesday that it has named Jamie Singleton as senior VP and general manager of Piercing Pagoda, effective March 27. Singleton is charged with overall responsibility for the company’s kiosk business and will report to Theo Killion, CEO. Singleton most recently served as senior VP business expansion at CPI Corp.

Dallas -- Zale Corp. said Thursday that net income for the quarter ended Jan. 31 surged to $27.2 million, compared with $6.7 million a year earlier. Zale, which has struggled to regain profitability as the economy improves, posted net income of $27.2 million compared with $6.7 million, or 21 cents per share a year ago. Sales rose to $626.4 million for the quarter, from $582.3 million. Same-store sale rose 7.9%, compared with a decrease of 11.2% during the comparable period in the prior year.
