Everett, Wash. -- Action sports retailer Zumiez Inc. reported Thursday that profit surged 140% to $4.5 million for the quarter ended April 28, compared with $1.9 million for the year-ago period. Revenue rose 22.7% to $129.9 million from $105.9 million, and same-store sales climbed 12.9%. The company said it plans to open 50 stores in fiscal 2012, including up to 10 locations in Canada.

Everett, Wash. -- Teen retailer Zumiez Inc. reported Thursday that profit for the fourth quarter increased 24.9% to $18.7 million, from $15 million a year earlier, boosted by better margins. Revenue rose 18% to $183.9 million, edging Wall Street’s expected $183 million in revenue. The company has now surpassed analyst estimates for four quarters in a row.

Everett, Wash. -- Zumiez Inc. reported Thursday that net income for the quarter ended Oct. 29 rose 14.8% to $14.1 million, from $12.3 million in the prior fiscal year. Revenue climbed 13.3% to $154 million from $135.9 million, and same-store sales grew 6%. “We are pleased with the current pace of growth for our business and believe our product assortment has us well positioned for the remainder of the holiday selling period," said Rick Brooks, CEO. The company has opened all 45 new stores planned in fiscal 2011, including its first stores in Canada.

Zumiez said its same-store sales increased 9.8 percent for the five-week period ended July 2. Total net sales for the period increased 16.8 percent to $43.5 million, compared with $37.2 million for the five-week period ended July 3, 2010.
