What do you do when thousands of mobile industry leaders from around the world get together in one place? You take their collective pulse with a survey, of course. This was the third annual Sybase 365/SAP Mobile survey of the operators, fixed telco providers, over-the-top players and other industry execs at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. 

eBay has announced a number of strategic moves including a new partnership with major carrier Three.co.uk; integrations with merchants such as Yotel and Entradas.com; and mobile app updates that evolve mobile commerce selling and shopping experiences for consumers. In 2011, eBay mobile commerce generated $5 billion in retail volume, and PayPal mobile generated $4 billion in payment volume. eBay’s mobile apps have been downloaded more than 70 million times, according to the company. 

This week's eBay auction promotion is by invitation only and is targeted at sellers with mobile devices. Between Feb. 28 and March 5, invited sellers will be able to list one auction-style listing from their mobile device and incur no insertion fee, no final value fee and free pictures.

French luxury lingerie and swimwear brand Eres announced plans to open three new stores located in London, Barcelona and Los Angeles in October 2011, according to www.wwd.com. The 532-sq.-ft. boutique in London will be the first freestanding unit in the United Kingdom for the brand, which already has an in-store shop at Selfridge’s, and will open on Oct. 20. The 645-sq.-ft. boutique in Barcelona will be the third location in Spain, and will open Oct. 26. LEXINGTON, Mass. — Collective Brands’ Performance and Lifestyle Group, which owns Sperry Top-Sider, Keds and Stride Rite, has signed new distribution agreements with partners to ramp up international expansion in several markets, including Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Spain. Through an agreement with ABC-Mart, Tokyo, the Saucony and Sperry Top-Sider brands will be reintroduced across the Japan market.
