The Body Shop is making its return to the United States in October, after closing all doors in the market last year. The relaunch will see the British beauty business launch a dedicated online store and a digital storefront on Amazon. The Body Shop shuttered its U.S. operations after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March 2024, as it grappled with financial difficulties across its portfolio.
Total Retail's Take: It's interesting to note that The Body Shop is returning to the U.S. only in an online capacity for the time being. This decision will minimize its capital risk while still enabling the brand to serve its loyal customers, who are frequently seeking out the ethical, high-quality products that The Body Shop prides itself on. Furthermore, by choosing to establish a storefront on Amazon.com, The Body Shop widens its net for new customer acquisition, complementing its retention efforts.
