The article shares how in 2016, eBay began using AI technology to power its email marketing language and optimize its campaigns at scale, particularly its subject lines.

AI technology built eBay’s language models, generating copy that's specific to a customer’s plans, promotions and, most importantly, the brand tone of voice. This allowed eBay to generate copy at scale in just a few clicks. By optimizing both the language in its email subject lines and the headline copy within the email, eBay was able to increase average clickthrough rates by more than 40 percent.
