Zooey Deschanel isn't kicking shoe retailer Steve Madden around in court anymore over a $2 million endorsement deal. Last week, the "New Girl" star filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit that claimed she was never paid any money for the use of her name and likeness in connection with its shoes and accessories.

Steve Madden inked a deal to acquire all the assets of SM Canada, which include Steve Madden Canada, Steve Madden Retail Canada, Pasa Agency and Gelati Imports. The purchase price is $29 million, subject to a working capital adjustment, plus certain earn-out provisions based on financial performance through March 31, 2017.

Steve Madden has completed the acquisition of privately held The Topline Corporation, a designer, producer and marketer of private label and branded footwear. 

In addition to expanding online sales and opening more boutiques, the new CEO of Betsey Johnson LLC, Susan Falk, says she plans to expand the range of the label's dresses, which she feels have been looking too young and "a little too short."
