The Buckle

KEARNEY, Neb. - Apparel retailer The Buckle said Thursday that sales in March at stores open at least a year rose 6.4 percent from the same period last year, less than Wall Street had expected. Analysts expected an increase of 8.8 percent, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters. The results covered the five weeks ended March 31. Revenue from stores open at least one year is a closely watched measure of a retailer's performance because it excludes swings caused by opening new stores or closing old ones. In the five weeks, total sales rose 8.9 percent to $105.5

Kearney, Neb. -- Teen apparel retailer The Buckle reported Thursday that net income for the quarter ended July 31 climbed 13.5% to $23.6 million. Revenue rose 12.6% to $212.4 million, and same-store sales increased 8.5%. The company also reported that its CFO Karen Rhoads will remain in her position, after having said earlier this year that she would be stepping down.
