New York -- Samsonite International is acquiring high-end luggage and leather goods firm Hartmann from Clarion Capital Partners for $35 million. “The Hartmann brand is an important addition to our portfolio and gives us the ability to successfully expand our presence in the global luxury luggage section,” stated Tim Parker, chairman and CEO, Samsonite.

Danbury home-furnishings manufacturer/retailer Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. has hired veteran consumer-goods executive Arne Borrey as its vice president of international business development. Borrey most recently was senior vice president, International for Coach, where he led itsbusiness development and expansion in the global wholesale markets throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America, Ethan Allen Chairman and CEO Farooq Kathwari said Tuesday. Previously, Borrey worked for Samsonite as president of its European, Middle East and African markets.
