American Eagle Outfitters said its debut store in Israel will open tomorrow at Ramat Aviv Mall in Tel Aviv. American Eagle has been expanding its international presence for the past three years, now with 21 stores in 10 countries, partnering with retail experts in each region. Today, there are franchise stores open in Russia, China, Hong Kong and various cities throughout the Middle East.

Home Depot Inc. has reported that fiscal third-quarter net income climbed 21 percent on 1.4 percent higher sales. For the quarter ending Oct. 31, Home Depot earned $834 million, or 51 cents a share, compared with $689 million, or 41 cents, in the year-earlier quarter.

November 4, 2010Big Lots 3rd-quarter Same-store Sales Up 0.7%

TEL AVIV -- Big Lots Inc., the Columbus, Ohio, closeout retailer, reported that for the third quarter ended Oct. 30, same-store sales -- those open for at least two years at the beginning of the fiscal year -- rose 0.7%. Total sales rose 2.4% to $1.04 billion. Sales were solid in the first half of the quarter and turned volatile and inconsistent in late September through October, Chief Executive Steve Fishman said in a Thursday statement. He said he was encouraged by sales of seasonal items and holiday toys, which are key to the company's fourth-quarter holiday plans.

November 4, 2010Stage Stores October Same-store Sales Down 3.5%

TEL AVIV -- Stage Stores Inc., the Houston retailer, reported that for October, comparable-store sales fell 3.5%. A survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters produced a consensus estimate of same-store sales up 1.5%. Total sales fell 1.1% to $100 million. October 13, 2010Office Depot may sell Israeli operations

Office Depot announced late Tuesday it is in negotiations to sell its 46 stores in Israel to department store operator New Hamashbir Lazarchan Ltd. for $47 million. The amount is minus the outstanding debt at time of closing, and the subsequent licensing of trade names and intellectual property rights, said Boca Raton-based Office Depot (NYSE: ODP). New Hamashbir Lazarchan trades on the stock exchange in Tel Aviv under the symbol MSBZ.
