A private equity firm said this week that it would buy retailer J.Jill, which specializes in casual women's fashion, shoes and accessories. TowerBrook Capital Partners, based in New York and London, will take over the fashion company from investment firm Arcapita and private equity firm Golden Gate Capital. Financial terms weren't disclosed. J.Jill, based in Quincy, Mass., has more than 250 stores nationwide.

Charming Shoppes Inc., a multibrand apparel retailer specializing in women’s plus-size apparel, has appointed Ahold USA EVP and CFO Paula A. Price to its board of directors. In her role at Quincy, Mass.-based Ahold USA, whose supermarket businesses are Stop & Shop, Giant-Landover, Giant-Carlisle and Peapod, Price is responsible for finance, strategy and planning, real estate development and construction, and technology functions. She joined Ahold USA in 2009 as CFO of Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover. Before coming to the company, she was the chief accounting officer, controller, and a SVP of Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Caremark Corp. from 2006 until 2008.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears Holdings Corp. recently signed a deal with Quincy, Mass.-based retailer Work 'N Gear to operate in-store shops inside Sears and Kmart stores. The shops, called "Scrubology," range from 600 sq. ft. to 1,500 sq. ft. and sell uniforms for healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, veterinarians and lab technicians. Ten "Scrubology" in-store shops opened in November, including one at the Sears location at the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Ill. Other "Scrubology" shops are located at Sears and Kmart stores in Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania. The companies said they plan to roll out more "Scrubology" locations
