Belk, Inc. is making all the right moves around improving its warehouse and fulfillment operations to meet the needs of its growing e-commerce business.

Belk has opened a new 515,000 square-foot distribution/fulfillment center in Jonesville, S.C. to support its growing e-commerce operations. The department store retailer is making a $4.5 million capital investment in the new facility, which is scheduled to be fully operational beginning July 9. The fulfillment center, located in a facility formerly occupied by Disney, is expected to generate 124 new jobs over the next five years. 

Charlotte-based Belk, Inc. reported Thursday that its sales and profits grew in fiscal 2012, as the retailer completed its rebranding efforts and remodeled dozens of stores.The department store chain said sales increased to $3.7 billion in fiscal 2012, up 5.3 percent compared to the year before. Profits rose 43.5 percent, to $183.1 million.?Our financial performance last year was one of the strongest ever for Belk,? said CEO Tim Belk, in a statement. ?We are encouraged about the year ahead.?
