Congressman Dan Lungren (R-Gold River-CA) and lead Democratic sponsor Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) introduced the "Supporting the Preservation of Internet Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses" resolution last week. The resolution opposes states' introduction of new taxes on small online businesses, including requirements to collect and remit sales taxes for out-of-state online purchases. eBay Vice President of Global Government Relations and Deputy General Counsel Tod Cohen said in a statement, "this resolution sends a clear signal that Congress will protect Internet-enabled small businesses from new, unfair tax-collection schemes."
