Coraopolis, Pa.-based Dick's Sporting Goods plans to open 40 new stores and relocate five others in 2012. The company also expects to reposition two Golf Galaxy stores. Four of the new stores are slated to open in the second quarter of 2012. Currently, the company operates 486 Dick's Sporting Goods stores in 44 states, as well as 81 Golf Galaxy stores in 30 states. 

Coraopolis, Pa.-based Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. has outlined a national expansion campaign that includes new stores in Oregon, Washington and Maryland. According to the Portland Business Journal, the sporting goods retailer plans to expand to 11 stores in Oregon—it currently operates eight stores in the state. In addition, Dick’s plans to open 14 new stores in Maryland, according to the Baltimore Business Journal. Eventually, Dick's hopes to more than double its network of sporting goods stores nationally, from 425 to 900, as unveiled in a document filed Oct. 22, with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
