HSN announced that Jill Braff has been appointed executive vice president of digital commerce, effective Feb. 7. Braff will report directly to Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN Inc. In her new position, Braff will oversee HSN's existing e-commerce, mobile and social media platforms.
Hot Topic has announced that Chris Daniel, president of the company's plus-size Torrid division, has resigned, effective April 29. The company has named Betsy McLaughlin as interim head of Torrid upon Daniel's departure, and said it will conduct an outside search for a permanent replacement.
Three-and-a-half months after a massive branding fiasco that earned the name "LogoGate," Gap is cleaning house and trying to start fresh. The retailer is swapping out North American President Marka Hansen for Art Peck, who has run Gap's outlet business for the past three years.
New York & Company announced that it's promoted Gregory Scott, president, to the role of CEO, effective Feb. 12. As previously announced, Richard Crystal, current chairman and CEO, will retire from the company and its board of directors effective Feb. 11. Grace Nichols, who has served as a director since March 2008, will assume the role of non-executive chair of the board effective Feb. 12. Scott will remain a director of New York & Companyโs board, which will be comprised of ten members.
TJX said it's restructured its executive management as part of the retailer's ongoing leadership succession planning. Carol Meyrowitz has inked another two-year employment agreement as CEO. Ernie Herrman has been promoted to president of TJX from his post of senior executive VP group president.
Larry D. Stone, president and COO of Lowe's since 2006, announced he'll be retiring this summer. Stone has served in "virtually every leadership position," the company noted, within store operations, merchandising and store environment during his career at Lowe's.
Men's Wearhouse said its President and COO, Douglas Ewert, will replace company founder George Zimmer as CEO in mid-2011. Zimmer, 62, who founded Men's Wearhouse in 1973, will remain executive chairman of the board.
Walmart has named Supervalu veteran Duncan Mac Naughton chief merchandising officer, overseeing all merchandise categories for U.S. stores, effective immediately. Since October, Naughton had been executive vice president of merchandising, overseeing consumables, health and wellness, and Walmart.com. He will continue to report to Bill Simon, president and chief executive officer, Walmart U.S.
Grocery retailer Supervalu, which operates more than 4,200 stores across the country, will shutter 29 underperforming locations by the end of its fiscal year, which will be in early March. Fifteen of the targeted stores are located in the Northeast. In addition, the company plans to cut 350 corporate jobs by the end of May, in addition to 300 corporate positions it eliminated in 2010.
Ultimate Electronics, the operator of 46 home entertainment and electronics stores, filed for bankruptcy citing decreased sales at certain locations and refusal of some suppliers to ship goods on credit.
