Kohl’s has introduced “the Deal Bar” to all of its stores, a collection of items priced under $10, reports Yahoo Finance. The collection, located at the front of the store to draw attention, includes gifts, seasonal items and everyday essentials. Most recently, Kohl’s Deal Bar featured Valentine’s Day and Easter-themed items but will rotate to new items regularly. The Deal Bar is also available to shop on Kohl's website.
Total Retail's Take: Kohl's is hoping its Deal Bar launch helps drive foot traffic to its stores while it pursues turnaround efforts company-wide. The department store chain is making broader efforts to appeal to budget-conscious consumers amid an uncertain economic environment. These efforts come under new CEO Michael Bender, who assumed the position in November 2025 after serving in an interim capacity since May.
Kohl's is taking a page out of Target's playbook, which more than 10 years ago introduced its Bullseye's Playground at the front of its stores. Most of the items featured in Target's deal zone are priced between $1 to $5, while Kohl's is launching with a promise of items under $10. Kohl's is also trying to attract the dollar store shopper and position itself to better compete with discount stores like Five Below, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, among others. Overall, dollar store chains continued to demonstrate strong performance in 2025, driven by ongoing consumer demand for value and affordability.
