David's Bridal announced a retail expansion at its existing McAllen, Texas location. The store has been transformed into "The Outlet Shop by David's Bridal," a dedicated outlet shop-in-shop housed inside the current store. This is the brand's first in-store outlet shopping destination, and will feature discount wedding dresses, bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, little white dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, wedding guest dresses, and special occasion fashions alongside David's complete assortment of designer bridal and special occasion collections. David's plans to roll out additional outlet locations this year.
Total Retail's Take: This new store concept is another part of CEO Kelly Cook's plan to transform David's Bridal from a traditional bridal retailer into a more flexible, omnichannel wedding platform that serves customers across multiple budgets and life occasions. By placing outlet merchandise alongside full-price assortments, David's is trying to capture multiple customer segments in one store location, including budget-conscious brides, brides shopping for designer gowns at lower prices, bridesmaids, wedding guests, mothers of the bride, and consumers looking for formalwear beyond weddings.
Furthermore, the outlet store concept will enable David's Bridal to maximize its inventory positioning, providing the opportunity drive sales of discontinued styles, overstocks, seasonal merchandise, and slow-moving inventory. And this merchandise will be accessible within the four walls of a David's store, which are known for their high-touch, personalized service — quite the contrast from the traditional outlet store shopping experience. Maintaining a premium, service-oriented experience while offering compelling outlet pricing could strengthen customer loyalty, increase store traffic, and improve inventory productivity simultaneously.
