After being forced into receivership by Canadian courts early this month, Blockbuster Canada filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection — a provision in a Chapter 11 filing that incorporates foreign-based properties — with U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. Along with the filing, the retailer announced it will close 140 of its 400 stores.
